It has been reported by various sources that the Daesh governor of their Iraq area of operation has been killed by Iraqi security forces. Known as Abu Khadija the criminals real name was Abdullah Makki Musleh Mahdi Al-Rafi’i. He was in charge of several areas of business for the criminal group, these included; Emir of Military Police in Qadisiyyah division, Deputy governor of Diyala, governor of Diyala and ultimately head of their so called “Iraq Province”.
It is believed that he was killed along with several other leaders of the organization, during a security forces raid against their lair at Wadi Houran in the Anbar desert.
It continues to raise questions over the ability of the criminal group to sustain any level of leadership. This comes soon after the killing of senior Daesh leader Bilal al-Sudani in Somalia last month.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin confirmed that al-Sudani had been killed in a statement:
“On January 25, on orders from the President, the U.S. military conducted an assault operation in northern Somalia that resulted in the death of a number of ISIS members, including Bilal-al-Sudani, an ISIS leader in Somalia and a key facilitator for ISIS’s global network. Al-Sudani was responsible for fostering the growing presence of ISIS in Africa and for funding the group’s operations worldwide, including in Afghanistan,” Austin said.
Can this group continue to sustain such losses and will it still be relevant within a few years? Terrorleaks hopes not…
